A recognized pioneer and visionary in the field of corrective eye surgery,
Nicholas Caro, M.D., Medical Director, has performed more
than 20,000 procedures. |
|
In 1991 Dr
Nick Caro opened the Midwest's first facility devoted solely to refractive surgery. He performed RK, which was most effective on patients who were mildly nearsighted. But as technology expanded the treatment options, Dr. Caro researched these options for his patients. He realized early that LASIK was the preferred procedure, especially for patients who were not candidates for RK. |
Dr.
Nick Caro
trained in the LASIK procedure and traveled abroad teaching LASIK to
physicians in China and Germany. When the FDA approved clinical test sites
for LASIK, the St. George Corrective Vision Center was one of the first in
the Chicago area. Dr. Caro also has invented several instruments that are
commonly used in LASIK.
Today Dr.
Nick Caro
continues to teach, study and research. He is ready to clinically test a
small clip he invented to correct presbyopia that also has applications for
treating glaucoma.
After receiving his medical degree, Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr.
Nick Caro
completed an internship and ophthalmology residency at Cook County Hospital
in Chicago. He did his initial training in refractive surgery at the
Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1985 and continues to update his medical
education at approved ophthalmology meetings.
Dr.
Nick Caro
is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a licensed
physician and surgeon in Illinois and several other states. Dr.
Nick Caro
is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of
Ophthalmology, the Illinois Medical Society, the Chicago Medical Society,
the International Society of Refractive Surgery, American Society of
Cataract & Refractive Surgery and the Summit Fellowship Program.
